I think I might be allergic to shirt collars, and I think it’s getting worse each day.
Some days all I want is to rip off my shirt, throw it in the air, kick it down, pick it up, throw it down, stomp on it, rip it, tear it, and move on with my life, happy that I no longer have a shirt collar around my neck.
Some days I think of how this must be some sort of sign that I’m meant to wear other clothing with less restrictive collars and be in a profession where it is suitable to have other options for shirt collars.
I bet you never thought you’d read a blog post about shirt collars – or maybe you have – or maybe you’ve even written your own – or thought the same… either way.
Just thought you should know.
Welcome to my life.

Fruit on the bottom? NO ON THE BOTTOM!
I don’t see the appeal of fruit on the bottom. I just don’t get it. Why would fruit on the bottom yogurt be better than pre-mixed yogurt?
If you ask me, pre-mixed is better. Why? Because you can open and begin eating right away. Which means no fussing with stirring 37 times to get an even consistency.
What? You don’t stir 37 times like I do?
Oh…
Well…
If it were pre-mixed, the only fuss you have is getting the lid off, which, I admit, I’ve had many-a-trouble with in my time, but I’d rather deal with that alone than adding a 20-second stirring session into the mix (no pun intended) before being able to consume said yogurt.
…I think I’ve said enough about yogurt for one day.
Goodbye.

OCD and an abundance of estrogen
I subscribe to a ridiculous amount of RSS feeds. My Google Reader is overflowing with unread posts, most of which remain unread as I pass them by and ‘mark all read’ to a good majority of feeds.
Why don’t I just unsubscribe, you say? Probably because of my OCD and a real concern that I’ll miss something that I won’t read anyway.
How does any of this make sense? It doesn’t. Why should you care? You shouldn’t. Unless I subscribe to your feed. At which time you should care. But because I’m not your only subscriber, you don’t have to worry. And if your posts are even mildly funny, I probably read your feed every day and you still don’t have to worry.
What I’ll do next is introduce a few of the blogs I read daily, or whenever there’s a new post. Enjoy!
(In no specific order)
Jamie the Very Worst Missionary
The Bloggess
The Sassy Curmudgeon
The Pits of Being Peachy
Hyperbole and a Half
More is Better
Disclosure: All of the above bloggers are female.
Does this mean only females blog? No. Does this mean that only female bloggers write quality “fun/ny” content? Probably not. Could my Google Reader use more male bloggers who write quality “fun/ny” content? Probably. Can you suggest some? I don’t know, can you?

My continued attempt to provide myself the opportunity to have a full-night’s sleep continues to be foiled by me.
Generally speaking, I get tired from time to time, especially during the lull of the day and when things aren’t too busy. Even more so when sitting in one place for a long period of time.
Last night I lied awake for almost two hours, patiently waiting to fall asleep. My mind, however, continued to play movies, show scenes, and hold discussions with little to no regard for my wellbeing. Had it had any concern for me at all, it would have shut up and let me sleep, for it knew I had to work the next morning.
Instead, it went on and on, on and on, on and on, on and on.
Nights other than last night, it’s usually the TV, and when it’s not the TV it’s my low-level OCD and an interest to research a topic or fifteen on the internet until I resolve my need for information. Though, many nights it’s the lying-in-bed-can’t-get-to-sleep situation.
When it’s the TV, Seinfeld and Curb Your Enthusiasm, as well as Law & Order, are usually to blame. Each one of those has a way of sucking me in and depriving me of sleep. Again, it’s likely to be the low-level OCD that won’t allow me to call it quits halfway into an episode; I must finish what I started. The same goes for the internet research – no stopping until I’m satisfied with info I’ve found.
So, Vitamin D and melatonin have become friends of mine. Though, they don’t always have the desired effect. Several times, I’ve pushed through the urge to sleep in the name of not calling it quits halfway through whatever it is that is holding my attention. Once that barrier is crossed, though I can fall asleep at any time, it’s an almost zombie state of attentiveness that keeps me glued where I am.
I keep saying it’s time to give in and go to bed at a respectable time. And although I give it a try some nights, it’s hard to find me sleeping at 930 or 10pm. I continue to remind myself that I can sleep when I’m dead. I also continue to remind myself of my love for sleep and my desire for more.
For some reason, however, these two thoughts never work it out for the sake of my wellbeing. Thus continuing the up late-crash-rest-up late-crash-rest rhythm of my life.
I wonder if one day this will change.

100th, Sleep, and Something New
So, here I am - 3:16am and awake. Again. Probably not the best decision I've had in a while, but still a decision nonetheless.
I've decided tonight to start a new blog, one much unlike this one; a blog where my opinions and thoughts can be shared with the world on topics I chose to leave out of here. While this blog will continue to serve as my creative outlet, the new blog will be geared toward my opinion on real-world matters and topics: current events, politics, policy, regional/national/world issues, etc...
I've always wanted a venue to debate and discuss, or to at least a way offer my opinion to the world. I guess that's going to be it for now.
If you would like the new blog's address, feel free to email me (jrm at workspacewritings dot com) and as soon as it's up and ready I'll pass out the info. All points of view, thoughtful discussion, and debate are welcomed on any and all topics.

In other news:
A small bit of celebration is in order: the previous post marks my 100th on this blog! Congrats! Thank you for sticking around and checking me out! I greatly appreciate all of your follows, subscriptions, comments, and views. While I may be all over the board on my topic posts, I'm glad to see you enjoy what I offer (to some degree at least).
Thank you for that. I hope I can continue delivering worthwhile content for months and years to come!
_
In more other news:
I should be sleeping, but I'm not. Something's gone wrong with my brain and it's switched it's hours. Work certainly isn't going to like it, and I certainly won't either. This is night #2 that it's been like this.
And also, I've been feeling rather creative lately, which is probably why I decided to start up a second blog. Not that I want to leave this one, but there are things I want to write about that don't belong here. I'm sure you understand. Writing a book, painting, making music, building something, and writing lyrics are all on the mind lately. The urge for an additional outlet has probably contributed to my lack of sleep tonight, as my creativity and slight-OCD have forced my focus onto the new blog - creating, designing, customizing, etc.; once I started there was no stopping until I was done.
And now, here I am, 3:37am, writing a post instead of catching some sleep.
What's with this suddenly-strong urge to create?
